Chapter 03

First boot and SoftAP setup

Out of the box, an unconfigured sign creates a local Wi‑Fi network namedB0RD-<suffix>. Join it from a phone or laptop to reach the on-device setup portal.

Five-step flow: power the sign, join B0RD-<suffix>, open 192.168.4.1, enter home Wi-Fi, sign serves on the LAN.

Join the portal

  1. Power the panel and module with the product supply.
  2. Read the SoftAP name on the display (setup chrome showsB0RD-<suffix> and 192.168.4.1). On your phone, join that open network.
  3. Confirm you received an address in 192.168.4.x (not a link-local 169.254.x.x).
  4. Open http://192.168.4.1/ in a browser (not .local yet).

Put the sign on home Wi‑Fi

From the portal (or the USB control path preferred by agents), enter your home network name and password. After associate, the sign keeps SoftAP available for local access and also serves HTTP on its LAN address.

Time and timezone

Once the sign is online, network time fills the idle clock and countdown headers. Set your timezone offset (minutes east of UTC) from the SoftAPNetwork screen or USB settings so local hours and night dim match the room. See Display and idle clock.
